A lovely saturday

Saturday saw Laura and I at Seletar hills to celebrate our friend emily's 30th birthday. Ryan (her hubby) was our classmate and partner in crime during our 2 years at CJC and we spent many a day hatching plots to get him to ask Emily out. It was love at first sight the first time he saw her and its been the same till today. He planned the whole surprise party at their new house (with a pool no less!) and it was lovely to see them in action as a family. Now they have 2 beautiful sons - Tiernan and Kieran - and they are just adorable (and very well behaved!)

So it was a great evening with good food and good friends. And it was great catching up with Jamie as well!

Goodbye Holidays Hello 2008!

What a holiday it has been. As usual Christmas caught up with me and I have had no time to even go through photos for this post. So in my usual fashion, here is how my holiday looks like in my mind! (always words, never pictures)

1. Bintan with my family. One of the most memorable moments of 2007 and Cailtin had a blast with gammy, grandpa, godma and Jamie. sandcastles were built, lots of food consumed, lots of swimming, massages and fetching of water for Caitlin who was scared of the waves.
2. Annual shopping trip (which actually lasted 3 full days for me) Half my bonus disappeared but I loved every minute of it. No buyers remorse!
3. Seafood dinner with the girls at Long Beach. (missed May and Regina though)
4. Swimming at Changi Beach Club with May, Regina and Amelia. Caitlin loved the beach but hated the pool!
5. Lunches and shopping with Em and Ross. That was fun too.
6. Going to the library with Caitlin and Megan. I am so proud that Caitlin has a library card!
7. Going out with the Machado kids and SIL to this explorer thing at Downtown East.
8. Celebrating Melissa's birthday at pump room and MOS. I went home sober thank god!
9. Underwater world and lunch at Vivo City with Tuff and Caitlin.
10. Making tarts, achar, ikan bilis with the family.
11. Christmas eve dinner and watching my roast chicken not "laku" again. Nobody eats roast chicken if they have smoked salmon, pie, roast beef, salad, ham and cheese and stuffing. I'm going on strike this year!
12. all the presents I received - Ipod Dock from honey, bags, shower stuff, a lovely watch, sleeping stuff, earrings, Ipod FM transmitter and lots more!
13. All the presents Caitlin received (too many to list but this spoiled girl got an average of 3 presents per family!) and watching her say "wowee" everytime she opened one.
14. Celebrating christmas with my family (singing at Godpa's house, talking and laughing and getting drunk at my place and great food at Em's!)
15. Seeing Marc after 6 months in Sydney!
16. Going for walks, going to the park and the beach with my baby girl and hubby. I went almost everyday and it was great.

So 2008 is here and I'm typing this during a free period in school (yelch).

I wondered last night what this year will bring. 2007 pretty much sucked and christmas morning was quiet, sad and so different and artificial without BIL, Aly and the kids. I have decided to live each day as if its my last because you never know what the heck tomorrow will bring. Enough of this work crap, worrying about what others think of me, fighting over stupid and mundane things, spending time with unnecessary people. Life is too damn short!
